1. Never ever brush your hair when it’s wet!
Waiting until your hair is dry (or nearly dry if you really can’t wait) before you brush it will protect it from breaking. Broken hair doesn’t look good and it certainly won’t make you feel good. For even better results, rather than using a brush, try using a wide toothed comb instead.
2. Don’t wash your hair every day
Try to limit washes to around two or three times a week at the most. This will avoid stripping your hair of its natural oils, which will not only make it feel and look dry, it will also make it extremely prone to breaking. If you struggle cutting it down, try out a dry shampoo.
3. Avoid putting bobbles or rubber bands anywhere near your hair
Tying your hair up in a ponytail may look pretty and feel comfortable, but you’re breaking hundreds of hairs each time you use a bobble or rubber band to pull it back.
If you really must tie your hair back, try using a jaw clip instead. This achieves the same result without breaking your hair.
4. Always rinse your hair in cold water
Doing this after shampooing and conditioning will give you beautiful hair that gleams and shines.
5. Make sure you get your split ends trimmed regularly
It’s not an old wives’ tale – trimming your locks regularly will make it healthier and grow quicker. The reason? If split ends aren’t caught in time, they will affect the entire hair strand, causing it to break. If the hair isn’t healthy and keeps breaking, quite simply it isn’t going to grow.
