History of braids!

Braids are more than just a fashion statement; they’re a work of art! For what seems like an eternity, braids have been a staple in the history of hairstyles. No, but seriously, Braids have been around since 3500 BC. To put it another way, they go way, way back. Braiding has always been a group activity. People have often taken time to converse while braiding and having their hair braided because of the time it takes to braid hair.

Braiding is also used to prepare the manes and tails of horses for competitions such as polo and polocrosse. A braid (also known as a plait) is a multi-stranded structure or pattern made by interlacing two or more strands of flexible material such as textile yarns, wire, or hair.

Types of braids include box braids, corn braid crochet braids, and french braid.

Protective techniques include buns, plaits, chignons, cornrows, Bantu knots, and two-strand twists. Braids are a protective style because you’re not using heat or styling your hair every day, which causes damage over time. It also gives your hair time to relax and focus on that great growth.
